The drive you received is the original style.
To remove the newer style drive you need to move the washer that covers the set screw toward the gear. I usually use a couple of screw drivers to pry it forward and then hold it with one of them as I loosen the screw. Once the screw is far enough out it will keep the washer from returning all the way back. If you are going to reinstall the same drive do not take the screw all the way out,
You can use the older style drive but you will be missing two stop washers that keep the drive from going to far forward. The newer style drive does not use them.
