Jon: If your talking about the early diesel like the MD in 1941, I'll throw in 2 cents worth. WE had the sixth one and farmers didn't take too serious just what type of fuel they used like they do now with the higher preformance engines. Gotta remember a few years befor there was a great depression and anything that would burn was pored into the tank sometimes..so starting on gas and getting it warm first would better handle "farmers-fuel." Those early diesels were a lot more expensive..like maybe 40% more $$ over gas..but they started good even when darn cold. Don't know if grow plugs were built back then for direct diesel start in the late '30's?. H MN.. harvey
