I've never had ANY experience with one directly, But Dad has Most of the M&W up-dates on his '51 M and has had the 9-spds. too. The M&W Crankshaft was a Kit I beleive that included shorter connecting rods and a stroked crankshaft. VERY RARE. Rods in the M were 8" or 10" long. (I think H was 8" & M was 10") So You could reduce the rod length without effecting too much else. Back in the late 60's M&W could get a reliable 70 HP out of an M engine. Their sleeve & piston kits were/are pretty slick, Wrist pins are offset in the piston so the rod gets a better angle on the crankshaft throw, and it reduces piston slap too. All this in a 60 yr. old design with 35+ yr old parts!
