Water pump lube is a water soluble oil. Most auto parts places, farm stores and the like carry it. There's Prestone, Zerex and lots of other brands. It lubes the water pump seal and maybe bearing a bit and prolongs the life and I think it's a good idea when not using anti-freeze. Of course I don't use it in thermo-syphon (no water pump) systems. Sometimes I even use it in vehicles along with anti-freeze. I have a Toyota that just turned a quarter of million miles and is still running the original water pump - exhaust system, ball joints, tie rod ends, front axle U-joints and all all four struts & shocks. Couldn't give credit for all that to WP lube, but maybe the WP!
