Well I learnt that a bad ground can cause bigger problems then I realized. Pulled the old ground cable off, sanded down the frame of the tractor, the cable ends, charged the battery, put the old cable back on. Turned key on, checked and had power at coil, checked points, lots of fire. Tried to start the tractor, fired right up, ran it for about half an hour, drove it around a bit, charging good. Cable end stayed nice and cool. Will be picking up a new cable for it though, for 20 bucks or so well worth changing it now instead of when its 20 below. Thanks for everybodys help in what to do, glad it was an easy fix not a hard one. Next project will be putting lights on it. Will have to pull the battery and see how its wired right now in there. Might have a question or 2 on that. I did find that I have wiring diagrams for one and 2 wire alternaters saved on my computer and a wiring diagram if you have a selenoid so if somebody is changing over to 12 volt and need a diagram let me know and I can send you a wiring diagram. I remember using one when I converted my SC to 12 volt, easy to follow.

No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
