If that engine has an external oil pressure relief valve I"d check it before pulling the pan. My 544 had a sudden attack of very low oil pressure a few years ago that turned out to be due to a warn relief valve. Low probability but easy to check.
On the other hand, low pressure in my 8N turned out to be due to gunk in the pickup tube (the screen was missing).
