Smokey - The Delco 10SI alternator will JUST squeeze under the hood on an H. It's a tight fit but it can be done.

But you can also have the original 6 volt generator rewound to 12 volts. Or you could install 12 volt generator off a later model tractor. Personally I think I'd go with the 12 volt generator.
