I agree with 39H. What I understand to be standard practice is to make sure the rod and rod cap are clean and dry. Insert the bearings and apply a thin coat of oil to the crankshaft side of the bearing only. I usually use a 50/50 mixture of something thick like STP and 30 wt oil, that way it won't drip off if its going to sit for awhile before you start it. You can also find the thickest feeler gauge that fits snugly between the SIDE of the rod and the crankshaft-insert it and hold it there while you torque the cap. In theory this helps make sure the cap/rod goes together straight. Good Luck. Geoff
