Two things come to mind. A Bad condensor! I have seen several times that GM parts were delivered and packed in a Ehclin box. The old return bad part to parts house for credit trick.
#2 I would check your primary wiring between the points and the coil, that little wire is usually exposed and works hard and may be way out on resistance or chafed to ground.
Also double ck your polarity of the wires on the coil. Good luck
