Hello all, I just wanted to thank everybody who offered help, advice, and parts to get my Ensign regulator/vaporizer ship-shape over the past year--the 450 runs great with the Ensign unit!! I got it running about 4 p.m. today, Saturday, and I couldn't be more pleased! One of the contributors to this site sent me an idle adjustment screw and matching spring, when they were essentially unavailable. I lost his address and name, but I wanted to thank him especially for his generosity and unselfishness in sending it to me, for FREE! Whoever you are, thank you very much. Anyway, it's running and finally idles down like it's supposed to, and has a lot more "grunt" down low than it did with the aftermarket unit I put on several years ago. Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
