pat, your crank should have lines on the crank pully. turn it over by hand with spark plugs out to get cylinder 1 tdc and should have line on crank. hold up mag with one hand in place and have the cap off to line rotor up with cylinder one...may have to pull out gear and turn to line up if you pulled it all apart....make shure cylinder one is line with 1 on rotor....if it is bolt it on hand tight. (With mag adjusted all the way tords engine)....then turn two rev. back to cylinder 1 tdc then lossen bolts by hand if you can not adjust, and adjust out from motor till it clicks....tighten back up and try it....should be good to go... kelly
