Bill, Not being there and not knowing what all you did these things are to hard to diagnose. I threw in my 2 cents worth on your plug routing. Only other thing I can think of is, did you change from a magneto to distributor or vice versa. I'm a Minnie - Mo guy that wandered into the IH site (though I do have an MD and farm with a 966) but we had a guy who switched from a mag to a dist. but didn't change the drive gear on his camshaft. The drive and driven have to be paired correctly, I don't know if his distributor was gong half speed of twice the speed, but when he corrected the mistake the tractor took off and ran. This is about all I have to offer. Good luck, these things can be frustrating.
