404 hydraulic system is not like a 240. It has a filter mounted behind the pump. Transmission and differential is a common reservoir and should hold 7 gal. There should be a "level plug" on the right rear back of the axle housing and fill thru the plug in the top cover of the transmission. If the capacity is any different with the dual range, you would still fill to the level plug. Farmall and International (Utility) 404 and industrial 2404 should be the same if you are looking for parts from a salvage yard. I don't know if any other models have the same filter. IH may not carry parts any more, but they should show the part numbers and maybe can tell you if there are other models with the same filter parts.
Too bad the younger generation of parts guys don't usually know what interchanges, they just know how to look it up on a computer.
