Unscrew the threaded ferrule at either end of the tach cable then pull the cable out of it's fitting. Now take a pair of pliers, grab the square tip that's sticking out of the middle of the cable (that's the cable core) and pull it out. It should slide out fairly easily. Lightly coat the core with grease, then reverse the process to reassemble.

If it's gets cold where you are (< 32 deg), suggest using white lithium (snowmobile) grease.
