About a month ago a friend of mine told me his brother in law was going to clean up some junk on a farm he had bought off an elderly couple. My friend told me about the tractor that was going to the scrap yard. We drove over to look at it and it turned out to be a 1954 Super M LP with a wide front and the motor was loose. I asked the man what he would take for it cash and I would haul it away. He said it should be worth over $400.00 because he had already hauled off 2 other tractors but if he did not have to mess with it he would take $ 375.00.I went and hunted down the old codger at Dycusburg Ky, everyone talks about and asked if he could save it! The man said most likely but not as a LP. I went back for the tractor and hauled to the Rolling Acres Shop, the old codger looked and said let me see what I can do if I find a real problem I will call you! He called Saturday and said it was done and the bill was $631.00. I went to pick it up and he had change it over to gas and changed all the sheet metal with used parts, tuned the engine and repaired a rear rim. The tractor looks good and runs good! Today we were talking about it at the coffee shop and one of the locals said that I just wasted my money it will not run long it will burn holes in the pistons and run hot and a 1954 Super M is only worth about$ 2000.00 and I have about $ 1080.00 in mine and it still needs a paint job! Is that true because I have found a 400Lp setting in the weeds for $500.00 and I was going to have it changed over to sell? What do you think? Did I waste my money? Should I leave the 400 in the weeds?
