Well it's been about two weeks since I posted, and I finally got the 450 LP running. Hadn't run in almost a month. The engine started missing one day, got steadily worse, and then quit on me, and wouldn't hit a lick. Tried everything 'til I determined it had no fire at the plugs. Thanks for all the suggestions, I used them to track down the problem....it turned out to be that the distributor wasn't getting a good ground to the engine. I ran a ground wire from the body of the distributor to a bracket on the head--problem solved! Btw, I had been using only one of the two factory hold-down clamps that retain the distributor, and now maybe I know why they used two, one on each side, when one would "do". Again, thanks for all the help, Hugh.
