Hi John, The seals are leaking on the spool inside the ram or motor. There easy to replace and cost about $20 a kit. Your oil if hasn't been changed could also cause you some problems. I would also use a heavier weight oil than what the book calls for because your system is worn. I replaced mine with 10w-30 motor oil and it works great(Phoenix). Keep in mind that a too heavy weight of oil during the winter time may to heavy to work properly until the oil warms. From what I've seen I should have used 30w here as it never gets below 30 degrees and this next summer I don't think I'll have enough pressure with the 10w-30 at 100 degrees. You'll also need a engine cylinder hone to knock off the rust on the bores. Just go lightly over the bores using plenty of oil as you don't want to get the cylinders completely scuffed but enough to smooth the rust. I used a broom handle for an extension rod to get enough length for my 48" cylinders. Messy job but fairly easy. Just remember keep it clean and watch which way the seals come apart and compare to a book as some of seals were put together backswards but they worked for along time backwards. T_Bone
