Remove the ground cable as Old suggested on the battery. Check your battery cables for cracks or frayed wires. Replace them if they are. Clean all connections until shiny including where the battery is grounded. Also use a hydrometer to check the specific gravity in each cell. Should be in the 1.275 range.
