Same thing a Casey. The shifting is weird and it can be a pain to shift if it is worn out. From what I read that is a curse of all "modern" Internationals. I never liked how the cab sat so far forward either. It is weird to look out of and back up to an implement. I'm sure you would get used to it, but I never ran my FILs long enough to get used to it. I should add that his 986 was worn out junk so that probably added to my bad opinion.
As stated, the 986 cab could seal the deal if it will be an everyday workhorse.
