It seems like there is a cab relay behind the door in front of your feet, I think the fuses are in there too? When it goes bad the tractor will fire up but the electrics in the cab are gone, they will often come back on a few times and then it's done. I think you can check it with a jumper wire. Had to change two or three over the lifetime (so far) of my 1086.
