When I was at my shop today I took some more pictures of the PTO assembly. You have to remove 7 bolts and the whole assembly will come out of the tractor, everything in one piece. No couplers or any other little parts, just one chunk. You talked about making a cover, if you buy a new gasket you would have your pattern, just need to cut the plate to match the outside and drill the seven holes. If you remove just the top 4 bolts the pulley assembly will come off first, and then you could remove the PTO parts.
