Both used the C335 engine--don't know why since the WR9S was made alongside the Super series tractors. Perhaps IH was trying to use up the C335 blocks that were made before the Super series came out.
Bear in mind I don't own either one. I would expect that the WR9S would have disc brakes, the IH emblem on the front of the grille and likely the sealed beam/pan style headlights. The WR9 would have band brakes, the McCormick emblem on the grille, and teardrop headlights.
