You can dispute the charges without canceling your card, and while the charges are in dispute, you are not responsible for paying them or any interest that accrues on those charges.
Call the credit card company and they will send you a form that you need to fill out and mail in.
There is an outside chance that this could be an honest mistake. Of course if they're "hard sell" types, that gets hard to believe...
