A year ago last fall my 400"s nose cone broke off and fell down in the bell housing. I could not get it out after trying everyones suggestions so I had to split the tractor. To make a long story longer back in 1981 I rebuilt the entire engine on it and promised myself if I ever had to split it again I would put a T/A back in it (The original owner put an elimination kit in it, I"m the second owner) The following pictures show the broken starter, the nose cone where it landed, the crud in the bell housing from not having the cover on by the back of the oil pan, a mud dauber bee nest and spider webs and mouse crud in the T/A housing from the open holes for the T/A clutch shaft, the rig I built so I could split her where she sat, the re-bushed clutch pedal with new shaft and seals, the rusty differential from decades of water around the shifter and outside storage( never again) which finally broke loose and my helper before he cleaned up and after ready for a dance. Thanks to all for the knowledge shared on this site. The tractor works great!
