I have read about Ms and MDs having had a tank type engine heater installed. The coolant bypass loop where you would normally put a tank type heater has only about 1/4" of clearance between the bottom of the thermostat housing and the top of the water pump. I have seen heaters that go in the bottom radiator hose but there is no clearance there either and besides half of the heat would go out the radiator. Is there some way to plumb one in between the coolant drain on the left side of the block and the thermostat housing vent, maybe? Anybody seen this done? I have a magnetic mount heater that I put on the oil pan but it doesn't do much.
