I had two installed that look pretty much like in the photo "Old Popper" posted. I'm in central NY and many places around here are dealers with demo models out front. Outfit was from down south and a few mexicans came by to install. They were amazingly fast. Both my car ports were the most HD available with a 50 lb. snow-load rating. They both would of collapsed the first winter here if I hadn't gone out and braced them on the inside with poles. The dealer near me had his demo cave completely in with a brand new car inside of it. Now I brace both of mine every winter. Also - the installers anchored them with 24" steel rods. One of mine tore right out of the ground and landed an 1/8 mile away upside down in one of my fields.
I'd never buy one again while living in this area. A moot point anyway. Most areas here now have buidling codes that won't allow them due to an 80 lb. snow-load requirement.
