Dad "downsized" his farming and we moved to a 100 acre farm in Feb. '56. He had a JD 60 and 227 corn picker that did not sell on his auction and the first thing he did was trade the JD for a new carry-over SC, Fast Hitch plow, disk, carry-all, sickle mower, cultivator, all new, plus a used 4 section drag harrow and used hay rake. Then he bought a 2 row mounted planter, flare box wagon, endgate seeder and NI manure spreader and we had all but the harvest equipment to run the small farm. One uncle had an AC All-Crop combine, and another had a Wood Bros. picker that we used by trading help (mostly me) with them the first couple of years. I was a freshman in HS in '56 and did most of the farming while Dad worked as a carpenter except for running the planter and when putting up hay. I put in a lot of hours on that SC for a few years and would sure like to have one like it now. I have a 240U, but it's not quite the same.
