Take the panel, under the steering, center at the floorboard out. It's held on by two bolts at it's top.
With the aid of a good light, you can see the shift linkage down on the top of the transmission thru here if you stand on your head & hold your tongue just right. :>)
Either one of the little clevis pins has jumped out of the linkage OR the roll pin has sheared on that hi-low vertical shift shaft.
Since the tractor is stuck in hi range, it is 'probably' the roll pin. If ya remove the right battery it makes it a bit easier to replace.
Now, the problem could still be up on top at the little tie-rods behind that shift quadrant housing, but "usually" it is down below.
If the tractor has the factory cab, the difficulity level jumps by a factor of 10.... :>)
