Lloyd - presuming your Cub has a 4-position light switch (L-H-D-B) here's a few things to try, all with the engine runnig at 1/2 throttle or faster: 1 - Connect a jumper wire between the BAT and ARM terminal on the cutout relay. If the ammeter now shows a charge, replace the cutout. If it does not... 2 - Connect a jumber wire between the generator FLD terminal and a good ground. If the ammeter shows a charge, there's a problem in the light switch or interconnecting wiring. If the ammeter still shows no charge... 3 - Problem's in the generator itself. Remove the band from the commutator end and check the brushes and commutator. You'll likely find worn-out brushes and/or a dirty commutator. Best bet then is to take the generator for a rebuild.
