I have driven several out with a heavy hammer and a block of steel against the front of the crankshaft.
The tool I made for installing the flywheel that screws on rear end of the crankshaft can also be used for pulling the crankshaft. I just made a bar and a pair of legs to span the end and use a 5/8" threaded rod and large nut for pulling. There have been a couple that pulled hard and I had to crank down on the nut pretty hard and then hammer on the front end of the crank (use a block of steel against the crankshaft for protection) to get it to move, then crank down on the nut again.
