Matt...I got a 12V 140..I had the starter rebuilt and replaced the starter ring gear at the same time.. (I left it 6V) I'm still glad I did it 2 years later..It's one thing I don't have to even think about any more. The rebuild fella told me he wishes he had a nickle for every one of those types of starters he rebuilt over the last 40 years. By the way, a used ring gear was about $30. I got a NEW one from the dealer..in the BOX for $21. A good deal..and it was easy to do. I split the tractor, replaced the starter ring gear, pilot bearing and throw out bearing, and had her back together in 8 hours..and I don't even have any special or heavy duty tools.
