new cub radiator

i put a new radiator on my cub recently i got from bates supply i found on here. got everything taken off and put back just dandy. i then saw some talk on here about trying to get the old gas tank caps and/or radiator caps. my new radiator has oriental text on it, so i decided to just take my old cap and put it on my new radiator. this is where i noticed a difference. the new radiator has a rubber stopper that fits down into it and seals the opening just underneath the rim about an inch. this seems odd, because with the way this works the overflow is closed off from the system. the system is entirely closed this way. what effects would this have, and should i go ahead and use the old cap?
