Richard, while the purists may specify HyTran (the Official IH hydraulic oil), any good grade UTF (Universal Tractor Fluid), even one of the two varieties from Tractor Supply, will work.
When filling the Touch Control resevoir, the levers and rams should be 'back' (toward the seat), because then the rams of the cylinders will be fully into the block, and they take up 'oil space'. If you fill the res with the rams forward, when they retract, the res will be over full and possibly push oil out of the block breather.
