T_Bone: Thanks for your input. My parts book (the "official" one for the 300U & 350U from Binder, #TC-57A) shows an inlet strainer 364 687 R91. Picture looks like it must be about 2" diameter x maybe a foot long with a nipple coming out of the side that screws into the reservoir cover, somehow. Might be interesting to see if you can find that number in your parts CD.
