I would try to find a set. I have a full set front and rear. On a 42 that runs. rears originally off a 40. not really willing to sell since I am like you and also have a 43 on rubber. restored that tractor once & using it. plan is to maybe restore it again in time and apply the steel wheels to it since that seemed to be a low manufactured year because of the war and steel was common cause of rubber rationing. its kinda my WW-2 tractor. I do also have a set of front cut offs from the 40. Don't think messing with them would be much help to ya though. The guys on here talked like $1000 for a set of fronts was to high when I posted awhile back on this site inquiring what mine were worth. They were talking like $1000 for a complete set of front and rears.
