Picture of dual tractors while plowing in the 1960 National Plowing Contest in The Netherlands. Tractors are Neuss built D series tractors; type D436 if I remember correctly. The D436 had a four cylinder indirect injection diesel engine of 36 hp. Normally equipped with three point hitch or fast hitch, with draft control. IH dealer Steenbergen of Klaaswaal, The Netherlands built this monster. Some sort of power steering was added, powered by the tractor hydraulics. Notice the long arm carrying the controls for the front tractor. The tires are probably made by Hofka and show widely spaced high lugs, similar to cane and rice tires (you needed these in the sticky clay of the Dutch "polders"). We had a (single!) D430 and a single bottom 14 inch plow was usually all she wanted in this type of soil. Hope you enjoy the pic. Hendrik, from The Netherlands
