this first pic is the gas distributer. it has an arrow on the shaft showing clockwise rotation.
the second pic. is the diesel distributer and it has an arrow on the shaft showing counterclockwise rotation. just have to think of the rotation then when the weights fly out it advances the spark. the diesel distributer has little advance compared to the gas one. also noticed on the diesel one the weight spring is on the left of 12 oclock position so could remember this as left rotation. on the gas one the spring is to the right of 12 oclock , so could remember this as right or clockwise. but now looking at the weights I can tell the rotation as I was thinking of it backwards before. so when looking at the distributer from front the arrows tell the story also... gas = cw. diesel= ccw.
