The name plate should be on the clutch housing on the left side kind of above the centerline. If it is gone there is only one way to establish the serial number and it is a wild chance (other than sales records). There is a motor number stamped on a flat on the right side of the motor just above the distributor in front of the Number 1 plug almost behind the throttle rod. It would not be the same as the chassis serial number but it would tell you the approximate date of manufacture. The only cross reference between motor number and serial number was recorded one day a month for a single unit of each model produced. If your tractor was one of the recorded units you would have your serial number. The motor numbers ran consecutively for each motor regardless of model. The serial numbers ran consecutively for each model. If you trace out the motor number you should be able to establish the month of production but unless yours was one of the recorded units you will not be able to establish the serial number. The only other way would be to know the original owner and see if records exist at a dealership or in family possession that indicate the serial number at sale. FYI I have a 200 with no serial number.
