In the past 2 weeks I've watched (7) 40 series McCormicks sell...Here are the prices and pictures top to bottom..
1-Older restored WK-40 at the Seger sale on March 21st at Johnson,KS brought $9250..
2-Unrestored WK-40 at the Seger sale with a Red Diamond truck engine on LP sold for $1050...
3-Unrestored WK-40 at the Seger sale with original engine sold for $900..I should have bid on it..
4-Unrestored W-40 at the Seger sale with original engine and no manifold sold for $1125...I didnt show a picture but a W-40 chassis sold for $600..
5-Unrestored WK-40 at the Seger sale made in to a WD-40 with a TD-14 crawler engine sold for $1800..They had done a nice job..
6-1935 model WA-40 on full steel sold for $1750 two weeks ago at Coffeyville,KS...I bought it knowing that it had been in a flood in 2007..It has a decent manifold...Only (331) WA-40's were built..This tractor has a W-30 gas tank so I could sure use the correct 40 series gas tank for it..
7-1935 model WA-40 on full steel sold for $850 two weeks ago at Coffeyville,KS..The manifold is bad and the gas tank was rough..
All W-40 McCormick tractors had 4 speed transmissions....Several of the WK-40's at the Seger sale had 4 speeds put in them..
I'd say that an unrestored W-WA-WK-40 is worth $1000-2000 and a nicely restored one is worth $7000-10,000... WD-40's go from $10,000 to $20,000..
