If the charging system is working and assuming the battery is basically okay, with the tractor at fast RPM the battery voltage should rise from the normal when setting 12.6 volts up to 13 and near 14 depending on the battery and RPM and system. Also a working properly wired ammeter should reflect the rate of charge which may be from a few up to as high as 20 amps subject to battery and its condition etc.
