The piston is free to blow right out the top of the cylinder and is limited in it's upper travel by the seat suspension.
Take the seat off by removing the 4 bolts holding the tracks to the suspension. Then remove the suspension from the floor of the tractor by removing the bigger four bolts.
The suspension linkage rearward of the piston is most likely broken. Make darned sure you weld it back in the same original position.
This would be a good time to reseal the cylinder and replace the eight suspension bushings. Recharge the accumulator to 40-50 lbs of shop air.
Make a mental note of how those hydraulic lines attach. You don't want to cross 'em going back together.
