I have had this tractor for over 40 years. I wished I had changed those cables back in the day when it was my main tractor.
Yes, that is the best & easiest thing to do for a 6V tractor. I have seen several hard starting 6V tractors with small battery cables. I am just going to add a simple explanation here in case others don't quite understand the science behind using larger cables. The larger cables reduce the voltage drop that occurs across the cables during starting, meaning there is more voltage available at the starter terminal. The same voltage drop will occur on 12V tractors too, but since the battery voltage is higher the voltage drop across the cables isn't as noticeable.
