Cheg: I just recently did the water pump on my w-9 and have a couple of thoughts for you: Try wrapping a piece of leather or towel around the notched surface of the packing nut and then use channel locks to turn it out. This worked for me. You could also soak it real good with PB Blaster especially if you have the pump off and can stand it on its back side. I will make a tool for that nut before I put mine back on.
