Two-way cylinders consume the volume of oil displaced by the rod so the reservoir level does drop when they extend. On my 350 if the reservoir is right up to the plug when the loader is on the ground it is quite low when the boom is up all the way and the bucket dumped. The four cylinders combined will consume close to a gallon going from fully retracted to fully extended. I like to top off the reservoir with the boom three or four feet up just to be on the safe side. The breather is up fairly high so it can stand to be a little over the fill plug and not blow it out.
