If you are going to use your older tractor every day and hard usage maybe then you would need an additive. My self I don't use it any longer because I don't use my old tractors regularly and what I found was sitting the lead additive settled to the bottom of the tank and carb. and formed a mess like soft putty. What a job cleaning it out.
