Was the oil milky? If it sat and got rained in, there's typically going to be water in the bottom of the oil pan. The two won't be mixed. One thing to check: crack the drain plug on the motor and see if any comes out.
If the oil was milky then it was likely run with water in it and that's not good. I would pull the plugs and look to see how rusty and/or fouled up they are.
Sometimes you get lucky and a little rain water doesn't do any major damage. But if it got a lot of rain and then froze well then who knows! Six months does mean it sat out in the winter.
If it's a run of the mill H and you can't put a battery on it and start it, then it's worth about $450.
If you are looking to get several H's and fix up one then it could be useful for parts if you can get it for scrap or less.
If you just want one then keep looking! If you are new to the tractor thing then it's worth it to buy one that you can drive around and check out before you buy.
