Get rid of the rubber tip, go with a solid needle. You have already heard to run it dry at shut down. One of the best tricks I have learned is, polish the three sides of the needle with a fine cut file or emery cloth. The made in Chine parts are just not smooth enough and the seat grabs the needle. (note to newbies,I am talking about the three points not the flat sides of the needle.)
