I forgot that I modified mine 20 years ago. I took off the old plunger-fuel pump that is bolted to the side of the injection pump. I made a steel plate with a drain valve and a filler hole with a pipe plug. Note to the upper left is a unmachined boss for a dipstick. Those pumps on some tractors had dipsticks to check the oil level but wasn't used on the B275s for some reason. To drain - when you still have the original plunger-pump -you just unbolt that pump. I assume seeing how hard CAV made it to fill that pump box - they figure letting it run with just diesel fuel as lube will be OK. Can't overfill since you've got that excess tube. On Ford tractors with Simms in-line pumps - I've seen several run out of oil in that box and seize. By the way. I took my plunger pump off when I first got the tractor in an attempt to make it start better. I added an electric pump that made no difference. What really makes these tractors start better - is to add the new 12 volt Mercedes-type glow plugs. Makes a HUGE difference. I've had two B-275s with the in-line pumps and also two newer ones with the rotary CAV pumps. The later models always have started better. The different pumps seem to make a difference.
