Take the filter off and take the gasket out and if you don't have a groove that is deeper then what your gasket is you have old gasket left in the groove. take a small pick or screw driver and tap it in the groove and if you have gasket in there it will come out in pieces. Clean the groove out good and put a new gasket in and put the filter back on and when you are tighten the bolt hold the can so it doesn't turn and ruin the gasket. Also I have seen where the gasket leaked on the part that is bolted to the block.
