Definitely no such thing as a Farmall 9 series tractor. The W-9's were most definitely McCormicks. The industrial version is the I-9. I am not sure here, but did the I-9's not actually have "International" on their hoods instead of McCormick.
I would say that the W-9's/WD-9's were much more plentiful than the I-9's. In Canada and the Northern U.S. there were many W-9's & WD-9's and still are quite a few around. I-9's were almost non-existant but can be found in other areas of the U.S. from time to time. So yes, I say that an I-9 is somewhat rare, but not the valuable kind of rare. Percentage-wise there are not a lot of people collecting the 9-series tractors. They are big, heavy, and can be expensive to repair. Certain parts are also difficult to find. Most people with farm roots in the U.S. remember Dad's or Grand-dad's Farmall so for the hobbyist, but not-so-serious collectors they want Farmalls, not McCormicks. What I do find with the few collectors that have a line of 9-series tractors is that they would usually jump at the opportunity to buy an I-9 or ID-9 to park in the shed with the W-9, WD-9, 600, & 650, etc. (9 series tractors).
